Salary Range: Starting at $85,000 per year

Valley Vista Services is a family-owned & operated waste disposal company that has been serving the San Gabriel Valley and surrounding Los Angeles areas since 1957.

We are seeking a positive and motivated individual to join our Operations team. Qualified individuals will apply their skills and experience to ensure the team delivers excellent service to our clients in a safe, timely and efficient manner.

This is a full-time position. Shifts vary.

Position Overview Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Route Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operation of waste and recycling routes. A Route Supervisor will lead a team of drivers and is responsible for the effective and efficient servicing of customers while meeting company expectations. In addition, our Route Supervisors work as a team with other supervisors and departments to ensure the efficient and timely collection of waste and recycling materials while adhering to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. The Shifts may vary and Saturday hours depending on operational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, lead, and coordinate the efforts of subordinates by assigning daily duties, ensuring that drivers begin their routes on time, and completing Vehicle Condition Reports (VCRs) regularly.
  • Assess daily manpower requirements and assign tasks accordingly to maximize productivity and route efficiency.
  • Monitor daily routes, weight slips, and route sheets to ensure accurate tracking and documentation.
  • Provide recommendations and implement strategies to enhance route efficiency and performance.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of daily routes and conduct periodic field audits to ensure compliance and quality control.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints or service issues as needed, providing timely follow-up and solutions.
  • Manage employee requests, including vacation, PTO, and other time-off requests, ensuring proper scheduling and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery and exchange of bins/barrels to customers.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop employees by providing continuous communication, guidance, and recognition of efforts to foster improvement and job satisfaction.
  • Address employee relations issues and enforce consistent, timely disciplinary standards in line with company policies.
  • Administer the company’s safety programs, conducting monthly safety meetings, routine facility inspections, and ensuring compliance with all OSHA and DOT regulations.
  • Investigate work-related injuries or vehicle accidents/incidents and complete necessary reports. Submit documentation to the appropriate insurance carriers promptly.
  • Train new drivers and helpers in the company’s Driver Training Program, DOT drug and alcohol policy, and the proper use of assigned equipment to ensure safety and compliance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
  • Experience: 6 -12 months of relevant work experience, waste industry experience a plus.
  • Computer skills with ability to handle multiple programs and systems (Familiar with Soft-Pak and Kronos a plus)
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally via mail, telephone and 2 way devices
  • Bilingual (Spanish or Mandarin) preferred but not required
  • Valid California Driver’s License and have a clean driving record (Class A/ B a plus)
  • Customer service skills
  • Must have the desire and ability to perform, learn, remain agile, ready to handle sudden changes throughout the day
  • Ability to multi-task in a deadline driven environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; Intermediate level and above
  • Time management skills
  • Attentive to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the work day
  • Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 25 pounds rarely
  • Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements rarely
  • Normal setting for this job: office setting
