Position Title: Route Auditor

Salary Range: $25.00 Per Hour
Valley Vista Services is a family-owned & operated waste disposal company that has been serving the San Gabriel Valley and surrounding Los Angeles areas since 1957. We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Route Auditor to join our Operations team. This role is critical in ensuring optimal route efficiency, accurate service data collection, and compliance with operational standards. This is a full-time position. Shifts vary.POSITION OVERVIEW
The Route Auditor plays a key role in evaluating and optimizing service routes by conducting field audits, analyzing route efficiency, and identifying potential safety hazards or service improvements. This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently in both field and office settings.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct SB1383 city equipment audits and capture findings using the routing software.
- Accompany drivers on designated commercial and/or residential routes to gather detailed data, including:
- Travel times
- Disposal volumes
- Service and collection times
- Container size verification and pick-up frequency
- Utilize route editing software to assess overlapping routes and propose adjustments for better efficiency
- Recommend container repairs or replacements as needed
- Work closely with Operations, Sales, and Customer Service teams to implement audit findings
- Prepare detailed reports of route audit findings and present recommendations to management
- Ensure all collected data is accurate, reconciled, and properly documented in the customer database.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
- Experience: Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in waste management, logistics, transportation, or a related industry
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to operate routing software, GPS, tablets, and data entry applications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and coaching
- Ability to interface professionally with drivers, customers, and management
- Valid Class C Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to read maps and have a strong sense of direction
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
- Must be comfortable working in both office and field settings
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including potential weekends and overtime
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Physical ability to conduct field audits, including extended periods of walking and standing
- Ability to lift, push, or pull 50+ lbs. as needed during field inspections
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) – preferred but not required
- Experience in waste collection, logistics, or transportation industries
- Previous experience conducting route audits or optimization studies
- Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the work day
- Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 25 pounds rarely
- Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements rarely
